Officer Fires 15 Shots at Suspect, Misses Every One

A police shooting has sparked outrage online after bodycam footage described an officer firing repeatedly at a fleeing suspect who, by then, had already thrown his weapon away.

Two magazines, zero hits

The account says Officer Lopez fired 15 shots from less than 30 feet and missed every single one. The terrified suspect, Mohamed, turned and ran, tossing his gun into the bushes as he fled.

The officer chased him into a residential neighborhood, closed the distance and emptied an entire second magazine before finally hitting him.

Backup arrived about a minute later and began emergency medical treatment. Only then, the footage suggests, did Lopez realize the suspect had not been holding a gun for some time.

"Here's the gun over there. There's the gun."

A post-incident report cited 47 shots exchanged in total, with Mohamed reportedly firing 17 rounds that damaged a patrol car. Some details, including the exact location, remain unverified.

Do you think officers should have to confirm someone is still armed before firing again?
